I am not sure, maybe it has something to do with the examples you posted. If I had to think about it I would say that it makes more sense for a lower belly button to be less attractive because it makes the torso appear longer which is unattractive in women.

I took another look at the pictures you attached to your original post, and it dawned on me that I never even realized belly buttons could differ that much in height. Actually pretty fascinating.
