In very single historical instance in which a revolution has happened this has happened only because the army or some other powerful government organ turned on the elite. There are virtually no instances in which the mob alone and by itself has been able to overthrow the government. It doesn't matter how much the elites are despised as long as the are able to maintain power via force. Look at places like north korea its a complete and utter hellhole but the elites rule anyway.
