This is why I'm wary of overly friendly customer servants. Like if you order an Uber/Lyft, and then when they get in you find that they decked the car out with all sorts of "complimentary" services. They're angling for that big tip. And I'm like "I didn't order First Class. I just wanna go home."
It blows my mind how America is an economic superpower yet its citizens are still as dumb as fuck to pay the expenses of restaurant owners. If you want this shit to change stop fucking tipping and force the system to change.

Maybe be thankful they left a tip in the first place considering it's not mandatory??? 20% tip is usually expected but pricey af for a $200 meal. Anyone who expects a huge ass tip usually delivers shit service anyway.

Wtf sense does it make that you're expected to tip a percentage? Somebody has one expensive meal brought to a table by a waitress & that warrants 20% the same way a group of 4 having 3 cups of coffee each, a slice of pie each & shared onion ring gets 20% yet the latter would end up in a smaller tip amount but involve way more work lol.

You're right it makes absolutely no sense but where I live you're "expected" to tip 15-20% regardless of the total. I never actually do though because fuck that lol.
I briefly had a job where I made tips. I never worried about the individual tips like these whores. My attitude was that I will provide good service to everyone and in the end I should have a decent amount. If not then, like op said we are not entitled to tips. Maybe my service wasn’t as good as I thought at times? Also there are people that will be horrible tippers no matter what. Annoyed me when coworkers complained about tips.

Tipping doesn't even make sense. In every other industry the more product you buy you get a discount, but for some reason in the restaurant industry the more you spend the more you're penalized with the expected percentage tip.
If somebody complained about not receiving a tip while working a mcjob or as a bus driver ppl would tell you to stfu.

I rarely eat out, but at restaurants I only tip 15%, and I tip because if I go back there, I don't want a vengeful, entitled server to do something to my food. And I always put it on my card, never cash, because that way there is a paper trail and they have to report it to the IRS. Servers make a lot of money on tips, and I have a fucking Master's degree with a shitty salary.
