It's ironic because all Nirvana members, along with most bands from that period/area, were fierce anti-racists, but all band members were white pretty boys with good-looking straight long hair. Similar bands with nonwhites and ugly dudes didn't manage to get the success Nirvana got.

I've heard other bands from that scene and I honestly think Nirvana is the best one regardless of their looks, but it's impossible to deny the fact the halo effect played in their favor. Not to mention that contrary to the hard rock and glam rock bands, they were not try-hards, they looked good even while putting some effort to look shaggy.
