this trope is pretty common in some fictional media, mostly in sci fi.
say hypothetically, the technology and methods to clone humans was actually possible and that the dna source to clone them from was able to be altered and manipulated.
thus, features like skin, hair and eye colour, height and even sex were able to be altered and decided upon before the clones creation.
you can literally design a human however you like, similar to character customization in a video game.
both male and female dna comprises of 2 chromosomes each, male dna has X and Y chromosomes, while female dna has 2 X chromosomes.
Y is the male chromosome, X is female.
if someone was to create a female clone from male dna, they can do so by weakening the Y chromosome and strengthening the X chromosome.
the resulting clone would be born female, just look at X23 from marvel comics.
the female clone created from male dna would be 100%, completely, entirely, biologically female, and not male in any way.
it would have female bodily functions too like ovulating and giving birth.
