Designer clothes are retarded, in terms of actual value they're obviously a poor proposition when equivalents can be bought for 1% of the price but even in terms of peacocking nobody is going to know the difference between "legitimate" and imitation, much less have the ability to detect counterfeits. Even if someone does have the authentic articles of clothing it's still not that much proof of wealth, damn near anyone can buy some high end brand because even at 10,000% markup it still only works out to a sum of money that could be saved up for even with a low income even if it takes a couple years. If you're going waste money trying to peacock you'd be better off buying something that's harder to fraud wealth with, more fungible(clothing has sizes which makes it harder to resell or buy used), and will actually stick out.
For the price of a few designer outfits you could buy yourself a pristine looking classic sports or luxury car that oozes the appearance of wealth and class. I've never seen a welfare nigger with a good condition 1970s MGB but I've seen so many welfare niggers with designer clothes and $500 shoes that I see these things as signs of poverty rather than wealth. All the multimillionaires I've met and known dress normally without the need to pay a premium to dress like a billboard with a tacky and oversized brand logo to signal to people their wealth, instead their signs of wealth were things such as the homes they live in, the cars they own and the planes they fly.
On the more affordable side of peacocking it might be worth picking up an old pocket watch, you can get a vintage gold plated model for less than the price most people pay for a pair of shoes, might be a bit outdated in the current age of smartphones but I remember when I was a kid it was a common thing for teens and young adult men to have a sterling silver or stainless steel watch chain on their pants often without even having a watch attached
