"Toxic masculinity" is, of course, first and foremost a buzzword created to shit on men for being men (women, being master psychopaths, won't openly admit to being sexist/misandric, but rather use linguistic manipulation like this not to seem as evil as they are), but traits associated with it (if you look up the theory, not the practice of this expression) like aggressiveness or cultural sex separatism (strong divide between things considered culturally masculine and feminine) are ENTIRELY created (though a mix of societal pressure and genetic manipulation i. e. mate choice) and supported by women.
I don't think men intrinsically care about things being masculine or feminine. I think the rapid expansion of the furry, Brony, anime and similar fandoms are good indicators. It makes sense for men to enjoy cute things, because they're also human, so they share the human preference for beauty and should comprehend the appeal of childish proportions and general aesthetic, and also because masculine mate selection is preference for neotenous characteristics: foids generally don't want their boyfriends to be describable as innocent or adorable, while men would generally do. It's oftentimes offensive to call a guy a boy, but calling mature women girls seems to be commonplace (the infantilization of women is somewhat disgusting to me, but that's another topic

Guessing the source of this set of tendencies is beyond the scope of this thread, but I just want to emphasize that men are subjected to extreme pressure from women to be "toxically masculine". Women can LARP and virtue-signal as much as they want, but admitting to any weakness or culturally feminine hobby/interest/preference/trait is social DEATH. I got into My Little Pony in middle school, when I was like 12-years-old, so I was still within the target audience (the official "show bible" defines the main audience as girls ages 6-11 with boys as secondary audience), but it was obviously a complete social death to me. I was immediately classified as a pedophile (a prepubescent pedophile, ok) and a zoophile for liking a cartoon targeted to me.
Back then it wasn't that weird for me, because I knew I was crossing the gender barriers, but from today's perspective, the hysteria was insane. Of course, no one ever in recent history bullied a girl for having a masculine hobby, but throughout education I was told about the terrible gender stereotyping that girls/women allegedly face, despite me never ever seeing it and being subjected to extreme social stigmatization due to a very minor transgression of gender roles. But no one ever cared about it. When girls experience injustice, it's a social issue, but when boys do, they should just suck it up, grow balls and follow their cultural designation of a worthless slave or shut up and die.
There was a short period of egalitarian propaganda saying "you can be anything you want, no matter your sex", but I guess at some point some smart feminist noticed that it would mean an emancipation of males and we can't have that. Now the status quo is "you can be anything you want, gender roles don't matter IF YOU'RE A WOMAN, but if you're a guy and transgress the gender protocol by even the smallest detail, you should cut off your balls and become a tranny".
The amount of hate males receive for crossing their culturally designated barrier is insane and ironically it's often perpetuated by "culturally liberal" types. Women can't hide how much they HATE males who aren't aggressive and aren't slaves to their genitals. "Brony" has pretty much become a slur and "furry" is pretty much synonymous with a sexual deviant. This is the stereotypization that males always face: everything you do must have some sort of sexual undertone (even masculine hobbies like cars, bikes and whatnot are stereotypized as copes for having a small penis), so if you like culturally girly things or love animals or even cartoons, you're some insane pervert. Harry Potter fangirls do photoshops and write lengthy fanfics about gay relations/sex of boys as young as 11 (but no one ever calls out omnipresent pedophilia in the female-dominated Harry Potter fandom). Similarly pre-porn-ban Tumblr was the den of degeneracy with SJW types shipping every cartoon character with every other cartoon character in disgusting combinations and pedophilic sexualization. The entire dd/lg (daddy dom / little girl) thing is straight-up pedophilia role play promoted mostly by foids and with roots in Tumblr.
Collecting evidence for widespread hatred for males associated in any way with female hobbies is pointless, because it's so omnipresent.
