Back in the day when i tried to socialize just to be the one left out i have noticed it too.
If you are in a group with 3 attractive men all 3 will be approached by women in front of you while everyone will ignore you.

But a lot of attractiveness is situation based. I am sure a guy like me would be approached by girls in a society with uglier men.
