Women are quite literally incapable of writing, directing, or shooting any entertainment that doesn't have them as the center of attention or the universe. Men who write these shows pander to women because this type of entertainment is the only type that will satisfy their gigantic egos.
Because of the gigantic female ego, instead of stories that everyone can enjoy and relate to, we get watered down pieces of media that have the sole aim of pissing of/turning away a male audience. Women will never and can never be men, so they need stories and movies that convince them that they can.

What do all of the newer versions of these old movies have in common? They all feature soulless boring husks with disgusting female leads who are all perfect and lack any endearing imperfection. If you're writing a book with a character that doesn't face any meaningful trials, or doesn't have any weaknesses, all you get is a boring piece of entertainment thats been done millions of times before.

You know why men still watch aliens and still like this character? Because she wasn't trying to be a fucking man. She wasn't some man hating perfect lesbian with a butch haircut. There was tension because she was overcoming impossible odds and was a likeable/relatable character.
Directors understood the demographic and gender they were marketing to and they weren't afraid to produce a piece of media that kept men watching as well, and gave women their power fantasy

When men avoid these movies like the plague and don't watch them, instead of blaming the director of the movie, the entire male gender gets blamed for not wanting to watch movies with a female lead, when all of them turn out exactly like this.
People are now okay with train wreck movies as long as they don't catch "THE MALE GAZE" As if men enjoying a movie is something that should be avoided. This is one of the many reasons why the entertainment industry in America is going down the shitter. You cant write and direct movies that pander to one gende while shaming the other gender, and expect it to be a classic or perform well.
