Same reason why I never joined the military despite having a predilection for everything involving uniforms. I would most likely fall through the psychological/physical evaluation.
Also the payment is too low and the work too hard; especially in my country where being a nationalist can get you thrown out of the military - this is a very funny moment because some officials nowadays again consider mandatory service because nobody wants to do it because the nationalists get removed and the payment is too low to attract "mercenaries/sell-swords".
But some military jobs look interesting like radiobiologist or informatician and they don't require an enormously high fitness regiment. Would one day love to wear a uniform still.
