Over the last fifty years, the United States' commitment to the rules-based international order upheld regional stability and neoliberal trade policies in East Asia. If it were not for the technology and capital that accompanied foreign investment in East Asia's free-market economies, my family and I would almost certainly not enjoy the standard of living that we do now. The simple truth is that open societies with (relatively) open borders and markets and ideas are economically better off. Globalization has been and will probably continue to be a massive driving force for prosperity.
And I'm not sure why a lot of users here -- mainly mayocels, but a few ricecels as well -- have some serious racial hangups. I really don't see why an individual's race or national origin somehow takes precedence over their productivity, educational attainment, and political values. Quite frankly, there's nothing wrong with my cosmopolitan elitism, and all of you alt-right wingnuts need to suck it up and accept it.
