I want a discussion on this subject since there hasn’t been one for a while. Why do you think prostitution is illegal in the U.S.?
The U.S. has an unusually puritanical approach to criminal justice and other aspects of law.
There is no other country in the Western world with such an absurdly high incarceration rate, with draconian sentences for minor crimes, a focus on retribution over rehabilitation.
It doesn't surprise me that most of the U.S. would not only prohibit the buying and selling of sex, but also run sting operations in an attempt to notch up easy convictions for (often elected) prosecutors. The deck is stacked against the defendant 99% of the time.
Visiting an escort, just like smoking weed, is a victimless crime.

The US is backwards in some ways but at the same time it tries to act forwards. The large amount of Christian boomers probably explains it.
To punish the aesthetically cursed, silly. Not enough to keep us out of the gene pool (which for myself I agree with). But they have to make us suffer for a good 8+ decades. Besides, Google how escorts feel about their clients. Many escorts already refuse to be with clients they find unattractive enough.

On the off chance you're being serious, the word "besides" means it's an additional comment. It's illegal b/c they enjoy causing us to suffer. And by the way, even if it WEREN'T illegal, professional escorts would still enjoy the entitlement to refuse the clients they don't want.
This seems so illogical and evil to me... Why would you want someone to suffer for being ugly or bad at social interactions? Aren’t we already suffering enough as it is, why not allow us to buy some happiness we cannot get for free?

But you must have seen the post on here a couple days ago about the male online student who just innocently interrupted some girls who were talking about non-school related stuff to ask what the homework was. They ignored him then went back to their conversation. The kid posted on Reddit that he felt sad by this. And Reddit crucified him for, of course, his unrealistic expectations that the girls would all slobber all over him (he never indicated anything like this). That IS irrational--you're right. But humans are irrational, emotional, sadistic, self-serving animals (at least sometimes).
On the serious side, there are probably cultural (religious, puritanical, regulatory...) reasons it's still illegal in the US, but it's not a big problem for most people because they can get their needs met at least some of the times. I think they really enjoy knowing we suffer.

why does nearly every country follow the US's shitty example when it comes to sex and drugs? Prostitution is legal in several less developed countries, and a few developed countries, and drugs are legal barely anywhere.

It started to get bad even before the first world war. The 'Mann Act,' passed in 1910, was the forefather to all the modern anti "sex trafficking" laws.
This explains it pretty well. Imo, it's the unholy alliance between the liberal feminists and the puritanical cuckservatives that is the reason for illegal prostitution. BTW, the fact that porn and OnlyFans are widespread and perfectly legal, but prostitution is hard to find and strictly illegal, is a tremendous slap in the face for men and especially 'incel' men.
