I often hear people exclaim smugly things like "I suck at math" and "I did poorly at math in school". They say it like they're proud of being "bad at math" when it isn't something you should be proud of. Why do normalfags think mathematical incompetency is something to be proud of?

I definitely recommend studying math on Khan Academy. It makes it easy and you will be able to tell when you've hit your intellectual limit.

I'm not sure if I can get better at math, even if I did try. Whenever I try to do math I can never focus hard enough to solve any problems. The best way I can describe it is like trying to read a small-print book while on a rollercoaster with 10 people trying to rip the book out of your hands.

The "hard" math that most people complain about, such as calculus isn't even that hard. It just requires you memorize a set of procedures and apply them.

I think people claim math is hard because it is one of the very few subjects in school that require you actually think critically from early on. You have to know when to apply certain procedures, which apparently is way over some people's heads.

It's especially jarring since today in many math courses you don't require the faculties to remember equations and formulas, rather are encouraged to just use software or programs (or just TI calculators) to find answers. When I learned calculus, I found it easy since I used a special software that I focused on knowing how to use instead of the course material. With computers, everyone should have a proficiency in math.

Why would society tolerate and cherish this kind of behaviour? Well, because it fits the narrative, that is why.
