I cannot imagine that while there was a pale of settlement in Russia and a Jew could not move to one part of Russia without becoming a Christian or serving as an ordinary soldier for decades in the army, while in England a Jew could become prime minister.

Yes, but the funny thing is that Great Britain was a total world hegemon from 1815 to 1918, then the United States took this place and it is still occupied today. Considering that the USA is some kind of offshoot of Great Britain and there was also a tolerant attitude towards Jews there. All these facts, when compared together, are simply mind blowing.
