There are two types of people: the Man of Action and the Hyperconscious Overthinker. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, congratulations, you’re probably a Man of Action and should go do something productive instead of reading this. For others, the years of bullying, isolation and rejection has rewired out brain into this mess. We’re stuck in the Notes from Underground dilemma—overthinking, self-sabotaging, and mentally debating whether we should even exist in the first place.
So what do we do? Nothing.
Maybe complain about it on an incel forum.
And then overthink whether posting it was a good idea.
Man of Action: The Guy Who Just Does Things
The Man of Action doesn’t sit around questioning the meaning of life. He just wakes up, eats his breakfast, and does things.- Got a problem? Solve it.
- Want something? Go get it.
- Someone bumps into you on the street? Punch them in the face and move on.
Hyperconscious Overthinker: The Guy Who Thinks Himself into Oblivion
Now, the Hyperconscious Man (i.e., me, you, and anyone who’s ever overanalyzed a text message) is the exact opposite. Instead of taking action, he:- Questions everything until he’s paralyzed.
- Creates problems that don’t exist.
- Refuses to act because acting would make him just like those simple-minded idiots who don’t think deeply.
Why We Suffer (And Why We’ll Never Change)
Dostoevsky’s Underground Man figured it out: once you become too self-aware, you can never go back. A Man of Action lives in blissful ignorance, while we overthinkers are too busy deconstructing reality to do anything useful. So what do we do? Nothing.
Maybe complain about it on an incel forum.
