I'm sure most of you are "online" enough to be familiar with the "midwit" meme. IQ bell curve with brainlet wojak being on the left "(low IQ) side, soyjak in the middle, and on the right (high IQ) side is either big brain wojak or a pic of some philosopher. Brainlet wojak and philosopher.jpg have the same opinion, where as midwit soyjak has contrarian opinion.
This is a phenomenon I've noticed a long time ago, but lacked the IQ to articulate or the wit to memeify it. I'll also preface this post by saying that not everyone with an average IQ is a "midwit". A midwit is a specific type of average IQ person, a pseudo-intellectual who narcissistically and delusionally thinks he's a genius surrounded by idiots.
The most obvious thing about midwits is they overcomplicate things. They assume it's never the obvious (unless the obvious aligns with their biases), so they will look at an obvious truth with mountains of evidence in it's favor, and come up with an extremely implausible explanation as to why it looks that way but is ASKSHUALLY the opposite.
The blackpill is the most obvious example. Evidence of the blackpill is absolutely everywhere from scientific studies, to dating website experiments, to dating website statistics. It also lines up with evolutionary biology perfectly. Sexual selection is observed in every mammalian species and even a lot of non-mammalian ones. You have the top males who have access to all of the females and the males at the bottom die off without reproducing. There's also tons of evidence of humans being the same way, most notably the fact that most men did not reproduce whereas most women did:

So the most obvious answer is the blackpill is unequivocally true and that the prototypical blackpillers described the situation with laser accuracy. But that's where the midwits come out of the woodwork and so "WELL UM, ACKSHUALLY...those studies are all wrong because...uh....the sample size is too low...1000 isn't enough, you need at least 10,000. Oh you found one with more than that?...well uh....it's not PEER REVIEWED, CHECKMATE!" They'll also claim online dating "isn't real life" despite statistics showing that's how the majority of couples meet now. Whenever there's a thread in the midwit's natural habitat (reddit) where an extremely ugly man posts his pic and asks why he can't get women, they'll ignore the blatantly obvious and talk about how it's his "lack of confidence" and or his "his entitlement" and how "women can SENSE this or that".
Also for anyone who believes in "just be NT" or "oofy doofy theory", this thread is talking about YOU.
But midwits do the same thing with a lot of other things. Simply acknowledging the obvious is "too simple", they always think of some extremely implausible answer that dismisses all evidence of the obvious, and perform an insane amount of mental gymnastics to attempt to rationalize the galaxian-sized leaps of logic their conclusion makes. They always think they're "onto something" but that the "plebians" are just "too stooopid" to see the truth.
That brings me to another pitfall of midwits, though it's closely related to ignoring the obvious, which is their obsessive need to be contrarian about everything at all times (with the exception of things that align with their worldview perfectly, then siding with popular opinion is OK). "[Unpopular piece of media] is ACKSHUALLY good, you just don't UNDERSTAND it like I do because you don't have a SUPER DUPER HIGH IQ LIKE ME." Meanwhile, any piece of media that is or ever was popular is "TRASH" and "OVERRATED". These people were all over anime and video game forums back in the day. I remember back then the go-to smarty-pants contrarian take was "FFVII sux". They never really had many actual arguments they just wrote fancy sounding walls of text and spammed buzzwords like "overrated" and "generic" followed by praising some extremely esoteric rpg that most people never heard of to signal how "cultured" they were. Some people legit make being "contrarian" their entire personality.
This insatiable desire to have the most contrarian opinion leads to defending some of the most retarded shit imaginable. Flat earth theory, raw meat diet, saying smoking has no link to cancer, "the moon landing never happened", etc. Many of them don't genuinely believe what they say, but they think contrarianism automatically makes them look super smart.
But there's also a lot who become disillusioned with the masses and powers-that-be so much they automatically assume the polar opposite of anything and everything the masses/establishment says must be unequivocally true. Many of them have the a verbal IQ just high enough to give a fancy sounding speech with slightly higher than 6th grade vocabulary, but they lack the ability to know when and where to apply skepticism. They also don't understand that when establishments like the media lie, they often either take something that's technically true and take it out of context, lie with a snuck false premise, or lie through omission/implication rather than simply saying the total opposite of the truth and leaving it at that. That's too much nuance for midwits, plus saying "COMPLETE OPPOSITE IS TRUE!" is a way for some people to signal that they're "BASED" when they're really just inverted versions of NPCs who believe everything the media says and make ad populum arguments.
People on the right side of the bell curve avoid these pitfalls because they are smart enough to know when to apply skepticism, and how to analyze and research a situation properly and thus come to the correct conclusion.
Many low IQ people, also come to the correct conclusion in most cases because many of us are common sense connoisseurs who simply apply occam's razor to everything. That's what I do with pretty much everything, and if you do so, you'll be right like 99 percent of the time. The majority of things really are what they appear to be at surface level. As the old axiom goes: "If it walks like a duck...."
