Why I think "dating down" wasn't such a bad thing for men historically, even 30 years ago.

Because the bottom 30% of women weren't obese, historically. Plain average men were content with a somewhat facially challenged foid because she had a decent/slim enough body.

Most men who are 4's 5's (but not fat) don't want to date down today because all 3's and below are obese women. (some will obviously settle with obese foid, some will do it a few times or once and regret it, but most will never do it)

This is also why roughly 30% of men aged 21-34 where reported INCEL recently, that exactly correlates closely to female obesity levels in the United states (at around 32% in most states).

Average woman is fat in 2019. Just not being overweight (bmi over 25) puts female in the top 30%, at least in the US.

But the 'bottom' 30% of men to foids isn't just obese men, but short men, bald men, puny framed, men with asymmetry and low status etc.

Historically such men could get healthy weight foid be she too would be assymetrical facially, ugly face, somehwat mannish. But her healthy weight body shape meant he was attracted to her sexually. Very few women have no curves.

Today any man with a big flaw is pushed to date some 250lbs slob and told off if he aims for a butterface slim foid etc.

Can we not talk about present. Yes it is true for present day that a young fit man thats short, weak jawed or balding etc is told at best he deserves a morbid blob that doesn't resemble the female form in anyway.

I believe this too. I would very gladly take a 2/10 girl in looks if she was skinny. The problem is where I live probably 70% or more of women are at minimum overweight.

All these land whales I don't even get turned on at all by them. And even the 'average' women who are 'just' 40-60 lbs overweight honestly are not attractive.

The average woman in America is 5'4 and 170 lbs. I estimate a 5'4 woman should be 115 lbs. So 55 lbs overweight is the 'average' woman.
