My sister bought skyrim on PS3 when it was only a couple of years old.
Her youngest daughter (my niece) would have been 4 or 5 and saw her mother playing it, and she really wanted to be an elf warrior riding a horse.
My sister explained to my niece that it's not an easy game to play, and you need to be able to read because there is a lot of text dialogue that you have to interact with.
But my niece was determined, so my sister put it on novice difficulty and helped her start a game. I'm surprised at how well she did! I wasn't there to see it but she made it out of Helgen, couldn't really comprehend (or didn't care about) the quest to go and bring news of the dragon attack to the Jarl in Whiterun. So instead she just went on the road, fighting wolves and then bandits and basically becoming a rebel without a cause, bandit killer outlaw.
But I was visiting them when she finally got 1,000 gold together and achieved her goal of buying a horse. She was so happy riding her horse, for about ten minutes until bandits surrounded her and attacked her and the horse died. She let out the angriest scream I have ever heard, and killed all of them.
I explained to her that she could re-load her previous save and get her horse back. But that seemed to offend her sense of right & wrong, and she wouldn't do it. So she grieved her horse for a while and then carried on. I genuinely admire my little niece, she is a pretty tough and cool little human. I will never have children of course but I feel very lucky to have my little nieces and nephew in my life.
Thst was about 5 years ago, there are no signs of her turning into a violent school shooter either.
