If someone is actually well-versed in a religion, although I'm not religious, I can have an interesting conversation with them regarding the religion. If someone is progressive, there's really no room for discussion, if you disagree, they'll accuse you of being a bigot and cut you off. They are themselves arguably just as religious as those who label themselves as religious. Progressivism is often driven by dogma vs truths and scientific facts. In fact, it most often opposes scientific truths.
Try having a discussion with a progressive regarding the differences between the sexes or human violence. They'll almost always attribute everything to social constructs with 0 evidence. It's incredibly frustrating.
What's worse is that progressivism is so widely accepted that you'll see this kind of thought everywhere.
