Reproduction is an arms race. Women have to be picky in order to ensure her offspring are healthy enough to survive and competitive enough to pass on their own genes.
Arguably we would be the NPC peasants in the past while the genetically superior men are given all splendor.
However we'd still have wives, a job we enjoy, children and so much more.
In 2025 you are expected to be the genetically superior man at all costs.
Womens's pickiness leads to dysgenics (single mothers, criminal offspring, low iq violent genetics) and fisherian runaways.

Yeah this. So long as you can survive and reproduce with the bare minimum, your bad genes get propagated even if they are bad. The thing is that we've subverted natural selection up until very recently when hypergamy and competition went into overdrive, so till that time arrived, subhumans subsisted and reproduced with the bare minimum, which is why they were all bluepilled.
Peasants didn't have the burdens of high expectations of advanced civilizations being thrust onto their shoulders, that's why they could continue to get women and reproduce.
