A wise man once said that even paradise is hell if you have to experience it alone. I have irl neither real friends nor a GF, why should I travel if I cannot even share that experience with anyone?
Why should I torture myself with seeing beautiful couples in Nice/Lyon/Vienna/Florence/Venice/etc. and watch them enjoy things that I could never have? Just fucking lol, visiting cities alone is the quickest way to lose the will to live.
Particularly tourist cities which were designed to be as romantic as possible.
No wonder why Santa Barbara drove you-know-who to insanity, the permanent contrast between your own life quality and those of others (which is nothing short of a constant reminder of your own problems) can even drive the best to rage/jealousy/insanity (not even speaking of those who are naturally inclined/prone to these feelings).
Then there are -of course- monetary problems.
Furthermore, traveling alone is in most countries an invitation for being killed. And trust me: I don't want some Chadriguez or Mwambe fucking in a club with my money while I die disemboweled in a ditch, neither do I want to help Svetlana and Ivan in setting up their organ trade business. Doing nature tourism or hiking without a partner is useless too, because what to do in a case of an injury?
Especially if you are severly autistic/disabled (like me) you are a perfect victim for scams and worse. Traveling would just mean to become even easier prey. Popular tourist destinations like Costa Rica/Thailand/etc. are therefore automatically unavailable for me, particularly due to posessing almost no English skills (not even speaking of the native tongues there). Two people can easily watch each others' backs. A single person is lost. Without friends/a relationship you are therefore automatically excluded from many popular destinations.
Places like Scandinavia are nothing I want to see, if you want to experience permanent heightmogging, shitty weather and genuinely rude hotel stuff go for it. So what remains: Neighboring countries, which are (especially if you are in Europe) almost indistinguishable from your own landscapewise, so why bother going there in the first place? Particularly Switzerland, just more expensive than spending time in Austria/Germany.
Never understood the obsession with traveling.
