Why are they only sending equipment but no soldiers? Doesn't seem like they care that much about Ukraine if they're not willing to defend it. Even though American media keeps reporting on how evil Putin is the US doesn't seem to do much about it.

Sending troops would be a major PR blow, considering most Americans really don't want to actually get militarily involved with another great power and sacrifice its own soldiers, and the US can literally do whatever it wants else with regards to sending equipment and intel to Ukraine to fight the war for them; there's no want to actually fight a war with nuclear weapons on both sides, and Ukraine has made considerable progress...

Proxy wars exist precisely for this reason. It's so that nuclear superpowers aren't in direct conflict with each other and nuclear engagement is off the table.

Why send tens of billions worth of weapons and supplies but no troops whatsoever? Just seems like wasted money. Ukraine can't hold out long-term without additional soldiers, Russia has four times more manpower. Plus Russian troops are better trained.

They're effectively paying for military real estate and letting the Ukrainians take all of the military and political risk. Why send your own soldiers to do someone else's fighting when they themselves fighting will serve your own national interests?
Because Ukraine will be lost to Russia longterm without US intervention. Maybe they are willing to let Russia have it. But that would be wasteful considering how many billions they've poured into it
