I am specifically talking about temporary bans not perma bans like if they ascended or something. The main reason I hear is that they need to take a break from the forum and they can't control themselves. This doesn't makes sense to me at all. How does being banned prevent you from lurking and doomscrolling on this forum? It is a public forum ffs. You don't even need an account to view most sections. So what exactly is the point of asking to be banned temporarily?

they want to see that grey line through their name

I also don't understand it

poor impulse control. little point in logging in if can't post or access sewers. they prob lurk offline but it still reduces time spent here.
Login? Can't be arsed with that. I leave my account perma logged in.

because they are attention seekers
Honestly it just boils down to this. I was considering doing it when I was taking a month long break but I was like nah there's literally no point besides letting other users know

People are too dependent on this forum. Even when I was writing my bachelor's thesis for university, I would still check notifications out of curiosity, even though I was busy.

Honestly yeah. I remember thinking it would be cool to see myself banned the first time I did it
once the mods figured out I was into that shit they stopped crossing my name out.

That's just because of the username color you had though I'm pretty sure. Don't know why it doesn't work with it but it's kind of interesting being able to post in ban appeals with a non-crossed-out name

no it's not. even with standard colors like green it didn't get crossed.

I was listed as a rebel cuz I sorta helped @NIGGER BOJANGLES
so it was also censorship (no one can tag me and ask why in the ban discussion thread)

Many times they are students who want less distractions while studying.
