It's a unisex thing but toilets do it more than males. A good example of this is Feminist publications calling scepticism of this as "misogyny".
The issue is that this is just religion with less commitment, all forms of magical thinking are non-sensical. The toilet brain actually is more inclined to believe in conspiracies and magic than men and toilets are also much more likely than men to be religious and/or believe in conspiracy theories, though men being more creative in nature tend to lead such movements which is why we (wrongly) associate religiosity and conspiratorial theorising with men.
