It’s like anytime someone has a problem, the go-to advice is, “Have you tried therapy?” As if sitting in a room with a stranger and spilling your thoughts magically fixes everything. Some problems are deeper than just “talking it out.”
Don’t get me wrong, therapy can be helpful for some people and specific issues. But what about problems caused by circumstances you can’t change? Or mental health issues that require more than just conversation, like serious chemical imbalances or trauma that isn’t easily unraveled in an hour a week?
It just feels dismissive when people suggest therapy as the cure-all for everything. Lost your job? Therapy. Like, sometimes people need real solutions, not just someone to nod and take notes.
