Do you ever experience that when you talk to somehow you tend to smile while the normie you talk to just holds their face completely still and serious? Giving you the "still face" or "death stare"?
I have experienced this all my life. It's like they are completely closed off from my feelings of anxiety. My face twitches as a result of it.
Do you think there is a dominance strategy with smiling? E.g. the person who smiles or displays more excitement is generally lower in hierarchy. An obvious example of this is how guys will never get excited when a girl talks, but girls will get very excited when a guy talks. They will more easily scream and have laugh spikes. I think smiling is a response when you cannot regulate hyperarousal as a result of feeling threatened or unsafe. I wonder if anyone researched the biology behind this.
