Most men find women shorter than them attractive. But why wouldn't evolution design men to like taller women more if it meant that their sons would have an easier time surviving and passing on their genes?

Evolution doesnt give a fuck it just does the bare minimum and not the optimal. If it works its not gonna fix it even if it can be 2000% better with a simple change
Those venus figurines were an extreme representation of fertility, I don't think people back then were chubby chaseres.
