Why did Private Pyle freak out in Full Metal Jacket?

He was at a point where he was one of the best trained members of his team fully fit to deal with the tasks ahead of him in the end. At this point he was respected and no longer bullied. He could have just enjoyed his success. But he freaked out. And in a way I understand him perfectly well. I think if I perfectionized myself by losing tons of weight, working out hard, changing my hobbies, clothes, hair cut, style, way to speak and anything I could then maybe after 1000 approaches I might be able to find a foid. But I would FUCKING HATE HER for having had to go through all of this in order to get her.

This is how real life works as well. Instead of helping the genetic shit, everyone bullies and mocks them. You have to work 10x harder than everyone while having to deal with being bullied and mocked constantly and after all that you finally just get left alone.

Incidentally, that, like all Kubrick films, is a blackpill classic. Private Joker deals with the shitty world by mocking it and never being serious, this is his armour, his Full Metal Jacket (suit of armour).

It’s absolutely fucking brilliant.
