Women's liberation and the sexual revolution relied on the presupposition that love would be as equally distributed as wealth, once we only got the traditional establishment of "squares" out of the way, because the Boomers thought (some still do) that nature was fundamentally beneficial, loving and just, and that all man's problems were due to man himself, or rather the "oppression" inherent in the "artificiality" of civilization.
Therefore, no one was ugly, everyone was beautiful in their inner natural nature. "Superficial" qualities like looks and handsomeness, even fashion, make-up and erotically exciting fetish clothing, was frowned upon.
Turns out the fundamental egalitarian condition of the sexual revolution/women's liberation - that sex would be freely and equally available to all - wasn't honored, however, so the only recourse open to the Boom generation was to cling on to their collective memes no matter what, and thus indoctrinate their Millennial children in what was provingly false and incorrect (blue pill therapy). The alternative would have been to accept defeat and admit that everything their generation had been about had been a big humungous lie, a self deceit and a means to utterly destroy western civilization. And no generation, especially not one as narcissistic and self aggrandizing as the Boom, would ever admit to something like that.
In their defense you could say they at least honestly believed in sexual egalitarianism and thus the feasibility of the sexual utopia, for instance as envisioned by Wilhelm Reich. In that they were used, like a tool, and when the lie wasn't needed anymore to justify "progress" it could be disposed of, thrown on the scrap heap like some used up old rag.
