Cosmetics allows women to look WAY better than they would normally. It's why for much of history they didn't have much pull over men and once they turned 20 they were basically gross old roasts.

I've seen 7/10 blonde bimbos become what you would see as a 4 from showing up at work without makeup.

This would literally not solve anything.
Take the birds of paradise as example:
Hundreds of species variations in which the males are grotesquely ornate in order to secure a female, to the point that said traits actively hinder their chances of survival.
Meanwhile all the females in all those species can be easily confused with each other due to how boring and mundane they look.
