Why are normies so obsessed with the year 2016

What a shitty year that was for me
over

my whole life sucked, but from 2019-2020 onwards it became exceedingly agonizing

Indeed the Post-Covid world is intolerable. I don't even go outside and do anything anymore except buy groceries and go to the gym.

Nostalgia. Also the Internet was significantly less shit then, would you believe it

In retrospect it was one of the best, if not the best year of the 2010s. Which is not saying much since the 2010s were an horrible garbage decade but still

because it was peak

No point living if you weren’t Chad in LA during 2013-17

Trucels have nothing to remeber

i don't know about others but i liked the early 2010s to 2016

i went from being a broke post college student to making a boat load of money in 2015-2016.

i went into deep alcoholism in 2017 when I still couldnt get foids despite all of that and it was all downhill from there. now it's 2025 and I'm still miserable

2015-2016 were the last good years of my life. i was in my 20s and it was basically the peak.

that was simultaneously the best time of my life but also the shifting year to when my life became dogshit

depends. the winter of 2016 was the peak of "LIBTARDS GET OWNED BY BEN SHAPIRO" content that flooded my youtube section. that was the year when politics and entertainment became fully intertwined

LeafyisHere (and similar content creators), the Soundcloud rap wave, all the stuff leading up to the election.

At least those are the reasons I can think of for why normies look back on it so fondly

Because of Trump, Brexit and all the hecking celebrities that died! :soy:

Because it was a year before the world was so shit

2016 was okay but retarded.

It was the year I became an alt-righter

truecels are an amorphous cloud of misery beyond our understanding of material reality. they have no eyes, ears, mouth, or nose with which to sense the world, they merely suffer

i died in 2016 now im a ghost

2016 is the year I was the most free and somehow had a better one. My elder brothers had moved out of the house for college ( I won't get bullied anymore). I used to get tutored by my father's friend's daughter , she was hawt for me back then. I liked being with her, she was nice and curvy . I was doing good at sports , at my peak physique, I hit puberty earlier so i was the tallest in my class(12 year old, 5'7). Everyone hit puberty later than me and ended up being taller than me later. But back then I was tall and could bully or do whatever I want in the school like a boss. Academic life was good, used to come back home and watch tv till evening, play some sports, tutor with the hot foid, study and then sleep . Peak life experience. And I used to spend my summers with my grandma who I love the most of all.

You sound like a normie. Covid literally changed nothing for me. I was a rotter before then

2008, the year of the lastest recession, and it was a great one, happened 8 years ago. Zeitgeist always seems to shift on election years.
Culture was “peak”:
It was fueled by people who had actual childhoods—without iPads.
Overton window was good enough.
Social media was ubiquitous, yet still novel, so the negative effects of it weren’t as pronounced and pressing as they are today.
There were constantly new social media apps that blew up quickly. These apps feed crazes.
Internet and phone adoption finally reaching today’s peak levels.
The arts were booming with brand new waves: gaming, fashion, music, entertainment. Including new influencers for all these things. Memes were more socially integrated with everyone.
Clout chasing culture blew up + Comparison culture on social media. Flexing.

Foids keeping the bluepill very strongly alive:rolleyes:

Depression and mental health issues in the youth have been skyrocketing since then. I look at today’s teens and see how little and soy they feel by the way they behave. Something is stunting them.
I feel like those born around 2007-2008 have that maladaptive gen-alpha illiterate ADHD brainrotten childhood in them.

Many people peaked back then especially some zoomers/important stuff happening like trumps election etc.
It was also when the apocalypse/conspiracy shit reached its peak.

Funny because I remember back in 2016 people were calling it the worst year ever because of US elections, Brexit, terrorism, war in Syria, etc. I guess those who love that year were still kids and preteens unaware of real life.

it wasn't bad but nothing special
