Why and how did get like this?
The answer to this is far more complex and nuanced than any shitpost on a forum could adequately explain, but what I can tell you is that there's no one person, group, or organization that could have possibly influenced a culture this much single-handedly, so it's not a conspiracy in the traditional sense, but more of a serendipity one. There's a lot of variables that led to this, including but not limited to:
1) Men's biological urge to provide for and protect women. While this is an innate part of human nature, women are now fully realizing the full extent of this and how to exploit it as much as possible with minimal effort thanks to the internet.
2) SJW strongholds in the media and academia. That's obviously been the case for a lot more than 10 years but it's gotten a lot worse and an entire generation was influenced by them.
3) Radicalization on the internet. Everyone talks about people getting radicalized on the internet, and while it's true, it's primarily happening in the exact opposite direction of what they claim. They claim le evil groups like "incels" "TRP" "mgtows" "mras" etc are causing this but for every one person that is influenced by these groups, there's 1000 guys becoming SJWs. Of course, most people believe intersectionality, feminism, "social justice" et al. to be impeccable and infinitely righteous ideologies and thus, completely incapable of being too extreme or radical.
4) Increased censorship on the internet. You're around my age, so I'm sure you remember what the internet was like in the late 90s to mid 2000s compared to now. It was a lot edgier, you could say what you wanted without fear of getting banned on most platforms, and most people who regularly used the internet were strongly pro-free speech. Fast forward to today and it's a complete 180 from that, with mass deplatforming of anyone who expresses a politically incorrect viewpoint, far stricter terms of service that are intentionally enforced asymmetrically to benefit one side, and the vast majority of internet users being openly pro-censorship and unabashedly anti-free speech. This is largely due to corporate influence (megacorps don't want ads hosted on websites where politically incorrect views are expressed) as well as SJWs gentrifying the internet. Some more delusional people act like being censored means you're "winning" but in reality censoring and deplatforming one side while signal boosting the other, means the latter is going to win.
5) The ultra wealthy and megacorps pouring fuel onto the fire to keep people divided and distracted from class struggle. So now you have a generation of so-called "leftists" who will ignore the fact that Amazon paid 0 in federal taxes last year but will devolve into hysteria over an offensive tweet from 5 years ago.
6) Governments pouring fuel onto the fire and using SJW issues as an excuse to increase surveillance and erode civil liberties.
7) Men being more deprived and desperate for female validation than ever. This leads to them spending hours and hours everyday virtue signaling on the internet in hopes of getting noticed by m'lady. Of course they know these women aren't going to date them, but they get a psychological rush out of just getting noticed by a girl online.
The two things to take away from this are:
A) Things are not going to get better within our lifetimes, in fact they will only get far worse. You ain't seen nothin yet.
B) The end game of this is not a collapse, but an Orwellian nightmare state. This will not be met with resistance by the general public, but with enthusiastic applause and uproarious cheering.
