1940's?
1950's?
1960's?
1970's?
1980's?
1990's?
2000+

I think music was good from about 1925 - 1997, especially from 1935 - 1985.

70s, 80s and 00s are my favorite decades

70s for disco and rock
80s for synth pop and new wave
00s for pure nostalgia tbh

i dont know, i only listen witch house and trap.
I also listen death metal but they are also 2000+.
Maybe iron maiden.

boomer music is decent in spite of their soylent message

I also like a lot of german music from the 30s/40s

t.boomet

he will. be missed

90 s because of black and death metal

1990 for more more popular music, and 2000+ for more underground

2000s+ because I only listen to videogame music.

Between the 50s up to the early 90s.

I mean the 1750s and 1890s, tbh.

That's for whites. For blacks, i'd say between the 1930s and 1960s, up to the 70s maybe. Jazz, blues, early rock, lot's of great stuff. Then everything went to shit for some reason.

80s thrash, ain’t nothing fucking better

I would say 2nd half of 60s and 70s.Just to name few great bands from this time: The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, The Who and so on and on.

80s also great decade, it has unique campy feeling and aesthetics - bands like: iron maiden, Dio, Judas Priest.

90s was last iconic music era tbh.

This thread has kind of "i was born in wrong generation" vibe to it ngl.

The thing is, we WERE born in the wrong generation.

Our fathers were able to ascend in the past generation

Judas priest is good shit. My dad is an ultra conservative christian and he hated that kind of music so I felt edgier for listening to it. JFL

Not denying this. I was referencing comments under music videos that went: "I'm x y/o and I'm listening to those old bands while my peer listen to modern trash. Wtf i was born in wrong generation"

Btw. Did you get your username from strategy game released in 2001?

Caveman music bro

Before African-American music became popular tbh, look at what that led to with the Sexual Revolution and then the Tinder Revolution. < 1930, anything from before that tbh.

Yeah I get what you mean, those can get annoying. Just attention seeking kids that think listening to music that came out before they were born makes them special or some retarded shit

My username comes from 2 of my favourite Pantera songs, “Fucking Hostile” and “Drag The Waters”

Love Priest as well. Tipton and Downing are 2 very technically accomplished guitarists, and Halford is one of the greatest frontmen in metal of all time. My first foray into metal was Megadeth, always been a big fan of the rhythm and lead work in their music

The 80s were great!

I also like the 50's era big band / swing / jazz type music, like Frank Sinatra. I'd love be alive then, sipping a whisky cocktail at a prohibition style bar.

The 90s are my favorite.

60s,70s, 80s and 00s

i honestyl think todays Music is the Best , if you think away most of the trash in the charts .
There are more artists than ever and the platform has never been bigger .
Its much easier today to become famous with music , but that sadly also means theres much more industry plant , money greedy idiots to sift through .

If you have the time to dig deep and search for good music , today is the best time for it in my opinion .

every decade from about 1950 on has some good music

Well I’m very genre loyal so my music taste is rock/metal from the 80s up to today and all of it subgrebres mostly, my playlist will be 80s Hair Metal then the next song will be Slam or Black Metal

70s somewhat, 80s all the way, 90s somewhat, and early 00s had some decent music, and that's it IMO.

early 80s was good.

Every decade has had good stuff. Some more than others though.

30s, 40s to a lesser extent, other than that most of what I listen to is modern electronic stuff and military marches.

All of them tbh, the only one I can't stand most of is the 80s, but there's still some good stuff lurking around.
From the turn of the century up to the 40s the only thing that really interests me is the Classical scene (20th century Classical saw some of the best composers ever), and a couple of jazz songs, after the 40s Jazz starts to turn into an amazing thing with Bebop and Hardbop (Charlie Mingus was the most amazing Jazz musician around if you ask me) and Modal Jazz afterwards, the 60s I can't say much of actually, I don't really like The Beatles or most of what was popular but In The Court of the Crimson King came out in 69 so there's that, 70s were amazing, Peter Gabriel's Genesis is def in my top 5 bands ever and the seeds of the Industrial scene were planted (Eg. Einstürzende Neubaten and a couple others) then all the great Prog bands mostly went to shit in the 80s but Charly García (the best Argentinian musician ever tbh) made his best solo albums in it and some Dream Pop that started sprouting up was really good. 90s were good, Shoegaze and Grunge I love and there were some amazing records overall, NIN's The Downward Spiral came out, which is another one for the top 5, and Marylin Manson was at his best with Antichrist Superstar, Opeth, Porcupine Tree and others also started putting albums out. 2000's acoustic Pop is my biggest guilty pleasure (KT Tunstall, Corinne Bailey Rae, etc.), mostly because it reminds me of my childhood. And today with the internet you can find basically anything which is amazing, even if you have to wade through all the shit.
Fucking loathe Trap though.

I'd easily say the 50s.

All of them have great music tbh

1800s music is pretty good ngl. I probably sound like a weirdo but parlour music is full of bangers :feelsmusic:

From 70s to the actual year, the best anime opening and ending songs tbh

So far every decade has brought good or atleast decent music. Hell even modern music i can enjoy.

i dont know, i only listen witch house and trap.

Maybe iron maiden.
Do u think op listens to witch house

out of those if i could go back in time and go to shows it would be the 80's.

This. Everyone is allowed a preference, obviously, but people who say shit like "music nowadays isn't like back in (whenever)" don't get it. You're remembering the best of the best, you don't have to sit through the garbage. Survivorship bias.

1990's are my favorite period

I don't care how old music is. Good music is good music, and I'll listen to it no matter when it's from. :feelsjuice:
