Serious where did the "just be yourself" and "girls will like you for you" originate?

So I basically encountered this guy who I knew awhile back.

I started to talk about red pill things and told him that how he got girls. Well he is a singer and a dancer. I told him that he got girls based off his talent with his status. He tried to deny it saying he was himself when he got girls. But he even admitted about attraction,
But denied the status aspect of it.

He even started to have a soy boy mentality saying guys judge girls by their looks.

"Just be yourself" is legit advice because your bones are all that matters and no amount of posturing or fake confidence or whatever not-being-yourself entails will make a difference.
