By the way, I'm not even one who came up with this. I am thankful for radical feminists for being honest, but what were they leaving out?
The patriarchy was enforced throughout history and in the present because the overwhelming majority of males are physically unattractive to females, to the point where females see sex with unattractive males to be on par with torture. Unless the female depends on the male for survival or is paid large sums of money beforehand, a female has absolutely no inclination or desire to readily have sex with a unattractive male. Despite the extreme variability of physical traits within our species encoded by genetics, females are only attracted to healthy young males with high to complete possession of these physical traits: Tall height, large penis, deep set eyes, large frame, defined jaw, and no balding. Since these traits are entirely uncontrollable, males lacking most of these traits are doomed to rarely or never have non-transactional sex with a female. Exceptions to this rule do exist from societal pressure (patriarchy), mostly due to total unavailability of males possessing desirable genetic traits. The main goal of patriarchy is the enforcement of monogamy and societal recognition of unattractive males as potential sexual beings. In the pure unfiltered female-feminist perspective, a physically unattractive male is unworthy of sex unless it is paid for. It is patriarchy if females cannot openly reject unattractive males on the basis of their genetics without fearing negative stigma. Its also socially taboo for multiple females to openly be sexually active with a single attractive male.
When you don't understand the actual reason for patriarchy's existence in the first place, it is easy to make misconceptions about it. People will say it exists for one reason: to stop women from having the same opportunities as men in all levels of society. When nothing else is taken into consideration, the patriarchy makes no logical sense. Why would you forcibly subdue 50% of the human population and force them to raise children and do housework? In primitive hunter-gatherer societies, this makes perfect sense. Since humans evolved to develop increased brain capacity instead of strength over time, they eventually lost the physical strength to fight large animals bare-handed. Testosterone the primary male sex hormone, binds to the androgen muscle receptor to increase muscle growth and is expressed in lower amounts in females. Males armed with tools hunt for food with their increased physical strength, and females care for the children that cannot survive on their own.
But to most people, that's where logical support for the patriarchy ends. Modern technology and agriculture have made the need for physical strength thing of the past, all you need to survive is a job. Competent males and females are both capable for preforming jobs. So, why did we keep females from having jobs and equal rights for so long? Feminists and modern people will say: "It was taught in the past that women were incapable of doing jobs outside of housework or holding power. Men kept women from progressing into society because they felt threatened they would lose their power."
But, power to do what? Feminists and women say we are still living in a patriarchy. There are laws enforcing equal pay, voting rights, equal opportunities, maternity leave, and outlawing gender discrimination. What feminists and women leave out is what law they really want: complete abolition of female dependence on unattractive males for survival.
