They are obviously far from being perfect and a bit overrated, but still very good games in my opinion. I like how they dont hold my hand, even though they take it a bit too far with their hidden NPC quests, areas etc. That you would never in a blind first playthrough. Except for Demons Souls the games are very action focused and allow me to not care about the story. Its enough for me to just enjoy good gameplay in a good/fitting setting.
The games areent fully my thing though, because i play viero games for a short time each day, to calm down after a stressfull day and the huge amount of repititon and to not progress that fast, because of the diffdiculry of the games isnt really my thing. I wouldnt mind the challenge of i wouldnt play half an hour 3 times per week.

They're nice but i wish there were more games like them similarly to how theres a thousand of platformer games

They are ass, combat is too slow

There are plenty of soulslikes. It is its own subgenre. The best soulslike that we had so far is "Lies of P"

Yeeah not really. Lies of P literally came out last year along with Lords of the Fallen. Platformer games/metroidvanias have literally hundreds of them being churned out.

Also soulslike has kinda lost meaning. I just want more games like dark souls

We also had enotria and this khazar something last year. Of course we dont get hundreds of games each year like other genres, but its not like we dont get anything. And its not that bad that we only get like twice a year because they offer much replay value. But of course youre right

Why was Elden Ring a disappointment to you? Bloodbornes atmosphere is really good and carries many of the games flaws, like that most bosses are meh. But its my favourite of all of those regardless.

I only truly enjoyed DS1 it was a really well crafted game with cool combat, setting, bosses and interconnected world, anything from Bloodborne/DS3 are too fast and the rhythm games while ds2 is too slow, bloodborne has pretty cool world but sadly it's a bit too samey (enemies too) and combat but it's still too damn fast (only bosses). ER is definitely the worst game made by them right after DS2. And Sekiro is a carpal tunnel syndrome the game absolute trash, they should pay me reparations for pain i've got from playing that shit.

DS2 and Demon's Souls are my favorite's of them. The rest are okay. I love the nature of them.

I liked Dark Souls I but I never managed to finish it due to shitty laptop
I liked and finished Dark Souls II on my xbox 360 but I struggled to find another fun build to replay the game. Or enough motivation to do new game+

DS3 onwards go beyond my available hardware capabilities and I don't miss the experience anyway, because while I appreciate these games I never became particularly passionate about them.

Eh. The Last Faith, Blasphemous, Dead Cells all are good games BUT pure metroidvanias are superior

Gameplay wise for example Blasphemous II takes a huge dump on Blasphemous I just because they made it less souls-like and thus closer to Castlevania. Same thing with The Last Faith incentivizing the player to actually use the jump rather than roll on many bosses

I need the steam release of Harmony of Despair dammit.

Theyre too stressful for me, Elden RIng was ok.

Good.
personally I love dark souls design and how linear it can be, with so many things to use and try regarding equipment it makes the replayability higher than most games I have owned and PvP battle arenas always kept me coming back as it was always fun to invade and wait my turn to 1v1 others honorably

You forgot to mention Hollow Night. And metroidvanias are in decline, they're making them easier and easier. Have you played Blade Chimera? The worst metroidvania of the year, it was a terrible letdown, not only are the boss difficulty levels a joke, but now they mark on the map where you have to go! You don't even have to bother exploring the map anymore, the game does it all for you

Never played hollow knight, it looks hideous.

They're fine, but not my cup o' tea. I play games to chill, and I dislike the many games that add in so much hidden shit that you need walkthroughs for.

Don't you dare go hollow.

I don't understand stand how people can like skiro a game that challenge you but hate elden ring for difficulty

People only like ds1, Bloodborne because those games are easy the boss all ways been rhythem

I love it since the games filters people who don't like to get challenge and put effort I don't understand why people call it norime friendly when these game design filter out those people

It is known to be a hard series, so many normies use it to cope to refuse the fact that they are a loser. You can see a thread about ‘DaRk SoUls SaVe mY LifE’ from time to time in the community. Still many subhumans also love playing Dark Souls.

In my opinion it is not a hard genre at all. There are many approaches: melee, magic, summon, consumables, etc; to overcome obstacles/bosses in Dark Souls and such. The combat is not even fast. Those who say that they are hard are handicapping themselves. The only hard one to me is Sekiro which limits to only aggressive fast pace play style and Armored Core Last Raven where movement has a steep learning curve for the player while enemies AC starts by master level of movement.

FromSoft is also bad at writing story. Lore is not story. When they present you the story narrative, it is very mid or bad like Sekiro.

Normies want to overcome challenge to not feel like a loser whom they really are.

Based developer. No woke, no bullshit, well crafted games and good challenge.

theyre ight. i like them, ive played alot of them, but this rollslop shit is getting tired. thank christ were getting more proper action games in the near future. r1/O spam is getting tired.

Lmao look at elden ring people are all calling boss unfair they don't enjoy overcome challenge they want easy mode

DS1 and DS2 are my favorite, always loved the calming loneliness in the early souls games. I've heard bloodborne emulation is now possible on pc, might want to check that out.

Yeah, forgot to mention that. Woth this stufio you dont have all these headaches that you get from the other ones.

Elden Ring offers numerous tools to fight against bosses. Those who complain on the difficulty of Elden Ring just handicap themselves or lack an ability to educate themselves about the game mechanics. They are nothing but npcs on the internet.

Summon spirit ash in Elden Ring almost has zero penalty while summoning other players significantly raise the boss hp. You don’t want to summon against the boss like Four Kings or Manus in Dark Souls. Devs encourage players to use spirit ash too judging on how the game just hands the first spirit ash to the player while in Dark Souls the instruction to summon npcs/other players is presented in a cryptic dialogue with Solaire whom the player can miss if he does not turn left to visit the balcony.

agree with the point about narrative strongly.
the backstory is nice, sure, but the actual story of the game is always "john dark soul wakes up in a pile of shit and then 20-30 hours later kills 'god' (old and powerless dude with a sword that was mentioned either twice or not at all before the fight)".
bloodborne is especially guilty in this regard, considering how much the rather basic lore is glazed by obsessed meatriders and the nonexistent story is constantly called a masterpiece.

Theyre too stressful for me
need a difficulty option or at least coop I finished NIOH with my best friend was hard but fun,i don´t wanna play stressful and hard games alone..

i only played the first dark souls and it bored and frustrated me, it was all about learning the choreography of the enemies, if I used medicine to heal my character it didn't come back after dying, armor gets damaged, leveling up makes no difference, everything indicated that there would come a point where I had to restart the game.

it was too much time wasted in a video game, and I think that this is not a good source of entertainment. At that point was just a way to waste my time

Fun games but overrated as fuck

Normies are always like this. They are npc. They always worship what makes them feel overwhelmly immersive despite not understanding them. That is why they follow shit like religion, believe in god, wait for karma to do the job, etc.
