What's purpose of religion subject in school

Ngl we watched shit outdated movies on religion in any school I was. This is some legit autist shit I'd rather go home 1h earlier. These movies weren't related to God or religion at all.

I rememberi had some "saint" priest in my home cuz of some catolic event and I lied saying I don't have religion in school and he went legit ape red on face saying I'm dumb lol
