No, I'm actually asking. In good societies, you were either married or you weren't. Sure, you could get to know each other a little bit, but you weren't having sex and co-inhabiting just to one day "break up".
So I ask again: What the fuck is a "girlfriend"?
Is it someone you go on dates with? Is it someone you have sex with? Is it someone you co-inhabit with? What level of commitment is the line between "girlfriend" or not a "girlfriend"?
Oh yeah this very question is something people are always asking themselves subconsciously, and a big reason many "relationships" fail based on one person not living up to to the commitment the other expects.
