I am on the last episode of True Detective Season One, highly recommend you give it a try, the drug raid scene is amazing.
And I plan on watching Manhunt and Mindhunter again just for Kemper although season two goes off track when they start to actively go after criminals, rather than sticking with the interviews.

Yeah better stay off anime then. Its mostly shit and less enjoyable than a well written show. Also depends on how old you are. You can try Death Note and see if it fits your bill.

But if you read comics or just want to enjoy an awesome story, read the manga called Berserk.

I have been meaning to watch Narcos it looks entertaining, I'm not only into crime shows it just happens when I watch TD and I want more stuff that could be considered similar and it's also short compared to other shows that span 15-20 episodes. I have also watched Raised by wolves the OST is very nice.
