I don't think all the sexless men articles we've seen recently actually means incel as in could never get any sex at all so remains a virgin, I think most people probably had it at least once but are struggling or just don't want to settle down with one partner (this one is mostly the Chad types who get sex easily).
Also at my age (29) most guys have had sex at least once, I don't really count early twenties since people are still technically changing into their final form, it's only once you make it past mid twenties that you'll know for sure.

Just because one is not blackpilled or aware of his inceldom doesn't make him a non-incel.
The reason lifelong virgins are rare is because in order to properly define someone as a lifelong virgin, he basically has to be alive for an entire lifespan, not just 25 years or whatever.
70+ year olds (even 40+ year olds) lived in times where monogamy was socially enforced and overt shallowness was heavily discouraged, which meant that only an extremely small amount of insanely unattractive men stayed virgins forever. (which is why lifelong virginity is only present among less than 3% of the population)
The way our society is right now has simply not continued enough to make lifelong virginity be noticeable in studies. It will however, by the time we hit 2040.
