It's the fact they can do something others cannot.

Superman is a superhero because he's the only krptonian on Earth. So only he can fly, shoot lasers from his eyes etc.

If suddenly there were millions of Kryptonian refugees coming to earth and all of them have Superman's power, you think superman will stand out?

Superman will become superchump as he gets mogged by Chad-El who is even stronger.

My point is even with genetic engineering, the problem of hypergamy is not resolved. We all become gigachads? Then foids will start chasing after only terrachads with a minimum height of 3m tall.

I agree. There are countless example already of this--one of the most vivid being the near-worthlessness of college degrees today as the market of "college educated" citizens has exploded. The media likes to tout the stat that college grads out-earn HS-degree only grads. But the stats there show NOT that college grads do well earning-wise, but instead there's unjustifiable discrimination against HS-only grads.

But the genetic issue isn't likely to be resolved, I think, because this kind of heuristic reasoning is likely the result of too many evolutionarily complex genes to recombine out. And society itself likes the game b/c (1) people overestimate their own relative value & (2) are too optimistic so think they'll win the game (and get the 8 or 9/10).

Human nature--no matter what you put on top of shit, it's still shit.
