Since a significant fraction here seems to advocate traditional marriage, or even reducing sexual activity to it, why make a difference between a traditional husband and betabux.
Traditional marriage required men to give a, usually lifelong, commitment to a woman, a certain material status and providing for her and children, giving them all required money and material goods. A traditional husband always bux. Under sexually restrictive orders, one night stands, unapproved relationships outside marriage, or alpha chad bed jumping were strongly discouraged or even illegal. The alpha that fux, and the PUA, were true villains back then, especially when no reliable contraceptives were available.
Betabux is an expression for someone not good enough for alpha adventures, for high school proms, parties and nightlife, but for providing like a traditional husband. Since wife and family must be fed and taken care for, he "bucks". It is said that woman use to not really love or to cheat them, but was that really different in traditional marriages 120 years ago? The biological code that causes such behavior in women, is millions of years old, much older than reliable contraceptives or even institutional marriage, from a time when women were still female apes. I think AF/BB can even be observed among animals. Except for controversial beliefs, that having sex with a virgin wife makes a big difference, it seems like betabux is simply a derogative term for a traditional husband, coined by people who favor a promiscuous alpha lifestyle.
