What exactly is the payoff to pretending to be a woman on Instagram/Tinder/etc?

Most of the fake girls I get messages from are on Instagram. They reach out to me. But they don't ever ask me for money, or to click a link & download adware, or even to follow them on Instagram. But they do ask me where I live and what I do for a living. And then the conversation kinda drops.

Have you fallen for this scam before? Do you know where it's supposed to lead?
