I have a little less than 1 year left of not wageslaving. But if I actually learned something useful and could apply it, maybe I wouldn't have to wageslave at all and could just be a self-employed programmer, that's my dream. I currently know 0 programming but if I had a clear goal I think I could learn.

But despite the versatility of programming, there are very few things that could allow you to make money purely online without actually being employed to some company.

Does anyone know what my best bet is? Making apps and hoping they sell? (from what I've gathered this is pretty much a pipe dream). What else is there? Freelancing? I think that's just competing with millions of smart indians for pennies.

This is what I need to learn programming: a clear goal. I need to know how I'll be able to monetize it, so I can take the proper path, to have a very clear goal I can work towards.

@Transcended Trucel talked about making a program for the stock market in order to generate money.

I believe somebody in the UK caused a mini stock market crash by using one.

Interesting indeed. I was thinking something a person that isn't a genius could do though, those guys are super smart.

My brother is a programmer and he makes some decent money.

Learning to write a cryptocurrency trading bot would probably be the best possible thing I can think of.

It would take years.

You'd have to learn both how to buy and sell Bitcoin/USDT/Ethereum and learn to program a network bot that automatically makes trades on Binance.

You can start with a small amount of money, and trade in very small amounts.

You'd be constantly finding ways to make your software better/smarter, and learning how to make smarter trades at the same time, the goal would be clear (make $$ consistently, daily/monthly/yearly) and once you have a system that works you let bot run 24/7 it works for you while you just keep learning more programming and trading strategies.

This would be a lot better than wageslaving in ANY country let alone a third world country.

Thank you for your post. Have you looked into doing that?
