With the rope, your survival instinct will kick in because it's not an instant death and you have time to regret it; it means that you'll either have an uncomfortable death or you'll fail by struggling.
I wouldn't recommend drugs as the primary method, but you might as well do some before you go to lower inhibitions and feel good. Some alcohol at least, I guess.
I would try partial suspension because you pass out before any damage is done, so, even if you back out, you won't sustain any damage. You black out in a couple of seconds if you tighten on your carotid artery, and, due to the "siphon effect", if you stand up or something to release the rope while you're feeling dizzy, the bloodflow will continue suddenly to your heart, leaving almost no blood in your head, and you will pass out instantly right back into the rope, where you'll die within about 15-25 minutes.
