Gor those who may not know I plan to be a welder and today I had a SHSM (Specialist High Skills Major) trip to a college where they had welding simulators and talked about possible jobs for welding. I had a great time and was pleased to here that there were barely any foids in the college classes. However one of the public speakers was a foid that didn't look like she welded at all and claimed to be a welding inspector (you need to weld before becoming a weld inspector). She then went on to advertise her company and Instagram and bragged about her 40,000 followers. She said her Instagram was somthing like "welding_girl" or similar to that. She also advertised a giveaway of a welding mask on her Instagram to entice us to follow her. Moving on to the welding simulators they were quite fun and almost entirely accurate. I tried one and my highest score was 80. I believe it was out of 100. One of the guys running it commented on how I had a good stance and said all I needed to work on was the angle of which I welded (the simulators were mig only) and proceeded to give me his card. This event made me feel great apart from the foid public speaker thus making it lifefuel.
