Police officers from the Child and Adolescent Victims Police Station (Dcav), the Computer Crimes Repression Police Station (DRCI) and the 19th Police Station (Tijuca), together with the Cyber Operations Laboratory (Ciberlab) of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MPSP), carried out a joint action this Saturday and dismantled a group that was spreading hate and preparing a plan to carry out attacks against the public at the concert of singer Lady Gaga, in Copacabana, in the South Zone of Rio.
The planned actions were drawn up on a social media platform and involved the use of Molotov cocktails and other homemade explosives. Two people were arrested. A man who was allegedly the leader of the group was arrested in Rio Grande do Sul. He was carrying a gun. In Rio de Janeiro, a teenager was arrested for storing child pornography.
According to the police, the targets of the attack were children, teenagers and the LGTQIA+ community. Dubbed "Operation Fake Monster", the operation identified that the suspects were recruiting young people online to carry out the attacks. The plan was treated as a kind of collective challenge. It is already known that the gang disseminated hate crimes, self-harm, pedophilia and violent content, which prompted the preparation of a technical report by the Ciberlab of the Integrated Operations and Intelligence Directorate (Diopi) of the National Secretariat of Public Security (Senasp) of the MPSP.
During the execution of the warrants, computers, electronic devices and other materials were seized. All will be analyzed and examined. As part of the operation, the agents also went to Macaé, in the North of Rio de Janeiro, to execute a search and seizure warrant against a suspect who was also planning attacks. He threatened to kill a child and, according to the police, is charged with terrorism and inducing crime.
