When it comes to long term memory of movies, books, and strings of information, I have excellent recall. It's like a massive mental library that I can instantly access at will or involuntarily from external stimuli

Watch a movie once, and I'll instantly recall every major characters, plot points, scenes, and music several months or years later just by hearing or watching a few seconds of background audio or scene respectively (since I just watch whatever is streaming next on the TV, I might not know the movie title)

Despite not being particularly well-read, I can near instantly recall salient quotes from books, authors, and wiki articles or remember very specific and unique keywords that I can enter into the search engine to immediately retrieve the relevant source material of every interesting article or PDF I've ever read to use in real time for a convo

On the other hand, my memory for names, dates, and scheduled appointments are atrocious. I'll insta forget the name of a person I met, and I barely know what to do half the time since I'm too lazy to keep a written schedule. It goes in one ear and out the other

TLDR: I have near perfect recall for some things but not others

It appears that you memorize easily things that are of your interest. Nothing uncommon there.

Most movies I watch are crap since only crappy movies are on cheap streaming services
