Like all armies, the Wehrmacht had its ups and downs. Their opponents didn’t expect a lightening war, and the Germans used that to their advantage.

For all the balls, bluster and capability of the wehrmact it lacked the logistical backbone the allied army or the red army would have as the tables turned during the war. The T34 and the Sherman were better in most regards for fighting such a war than a lot of the Panzer models were.
