The licensing of child bearing is something we should have been doing for a very long time now. I don't think we should allow people who have no intention of properly raising a child have a child. I don't think drug addicts, people who aren't financially and emotionally responsible, or people with severe mental problems should have a child. We could use laws like this now more than ever. As the population gets higher and higher and people get dumber and dumber.
Having a child is a means to an end for a lot of people. There's a lot of people out there who aren't smart enough or influential enough to have power over anyone or anything in thier lives. Everything they do is questioned by people who are smarter than them, everything they do is overseen by someone who is more talented than them. Having a child is the last vestige of hope for a dumb person to have complete and utter control over something in thier lives.
Have you ever run into one of those dumb trailer trash parents who have that "You can't tell me what to do with MY child!!!" mentality? That is what it's based in. They don't have control over ANYTHING in thier lives, they don't have ANY measure of positive or influential power to change anything. But having a child gives them complete control over another person, and that's extremely attractive to a lot of bad people who should never have children. Narcissists, sociopaths, manic depressives, borderlines. All these people looking to fill a void in thier life with a child.
"But what about birth control, condoms, and contraceptives? Can't we just enforce the use of those more?" Yeah well, it feels good in the moment for people to not use those things. And if something feels good in the moment it means mass amounts of people will do it. That's why you can't leave it up to them. You can't leave it up to people to be responsible with thier own lives, and you especially can't leave it up to them to be responsible with the life of another human being. And if you don't regulate that you'll end up with a world like we have now. With tons of orphaned children, and children who have parents but they may as well not.
You can't trust people. People are not to be trusted to do the right thing. They make stupid and emotional decisions and then justify it by hiding under a cloak of "you can't criticize me because I'm a parent, therefore I'm superior to you."
Its their children who become our problem, who become society's problem. Its their children who grow up socially inept, who can't find a job, who grow up sociopathic, and as a drain on society. And it's all because people have an obstinate decision to make. If a woman wants to raise 12 fucked up little monsters who she neglected and abused thier whole lives and ended up as prisoners and drug addicts because of her shitty parenting its completely and 100% her right to do that. It's her right to foist for 80 years a ward of the state onto the taxpayers, and that is the absurdity of this world.
